Applications open for Photographer of the Year 2021 presented by Nokia
We are delighted to announce that our annual photo competition, Photographer of the Year 2021, is now open for entries.
Now in its ninth year, the Photographer of the Year presented by Nokia is the largest competition for amateur photographers in the southern hemisphere. The winners and finalists of the 2021 edition of the contest will share over $ 30,000 in cash and prizes.
The winner of Photographer of the Year will join Photographic adventures of the world on a 2022 photography tour valued at $ 5,000 with up to $ 500 for flights. The big winner will also win a new Nokia smartphone valued at $ 700.
Our other category prizes include Camera House, Haida, and Maxxum gift certificates, SanDisk storage, Epson printer, WD storage, BenQ image editing monitor and hardware from MSI, as well as $ 10,000 in cash. You can see all the category prizes on our contest page.
After a two-year hiatus, we listened to your advice and brought back Aerial, a portfolio category now separate from our other categories. For Aerial, we are looking for the best images taken from an elevated position, whether from a building, a drone or an airplane.
Due to the current restrictions on worldwide travel, we have decided not to offer the Travel category this year. However, all of our other categories including People, Black & White, Landscape, Animals & Nature, Mobile, Creative, Junior, and Photo of the Year are back for 2021, with Mobile now just one image category.
As always, the competition’s winners, finalists and top finalists will feature in our special Photographer of the Year issue of AP magazine in February 2022, with our winners chosen by a panel of professional photographers to be announced shortly. .
We also recently updated the 2020 results online – click here to see the top 20 in each category from the competition last year, including judges’ comments for winners and finalists.
Finally, a huge thank you to our great Nokia sponsors, WD, Sandisk, Photographic adventures of the world, BenQ, WD, Epson, MSI, Camera house and Haida for their support to photographers from Australia and New Zealand.
Pre-earlybird registrations are open now. You can enter the competition here.
