Black & Decker recalls Craftsman corded chain saw with extension
Black & Decker recalls a Artisan chainsaw because it can start unexpectedly without the user activating the power switch when the extension cord adapter is plugged in backwards.
According to an announcement with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 82,000 of the saws were sold at Lowe’s and other hardware stores as well as Amazon.com from October 2019 through August 2020 for $ 100.
Details of the recalled product are:
- Black & Decker Craftsman Model CMECSP610 10 Inch Corded Chainsaw with Extension. The model number can be found on the label above the engine. Only chainsaws with date codes from 2019-40 to 2020-35 are included. The date code is laser engraved on the underside of the grip base.
The commission said Craftsman had received a report of a person injured when the saw was started without flipping the switch.
A free repair kit is offered to chainsaw owners.
