Pilot Knob Historic Site Hosting Movie Night Saturday | Local News

If you’re looking for a Halloween-themed movie to watch on Saturday night, the Pilot Knob Battle State Historic Site is the place to be.

The historic site hosts a movie night with “Goosebumps” at 7 p.m.

This free event will take place outside in the day use area. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring lawn chairs or blankets for sitting.

The film was originally scheduled to air last Saturday but has been postponed due to rain.

This is the second movie night that the historic site is hosting. About 40 people attended the screening of “Sargent York” at the end of August. The film details the life and service of the most decorated American veteran of World War I. Two park volunteers and WWI reenactors were on hand to show off the uniforms and equipment used during the war.

Bryan Bethel, director of the historic site, kicked off movie nights after seeing their success at his latest park, Harry S Truman State Park in Independence, where crowds of 200-300 people gathered.

He said the first movie night was well received and that they had received many positive comments about it.

“We have a lot of interest in this one and we expect a pretty good crowd,” he added.

The historic site plans to continue movie nights in 2022.
