Book and rent a car easily with the Trevo app.

Kota Kinabalu: Renting or hiring a car in Kota Kinabalu has never been easier with Trevo, a private accommodation and carsharing mobile application owned by Socar Malaysia. On the app, a guest can browse the carsharing market which offers a range of mobility options rented at different prices – and book a car at their fingertips. The price of a Perodua Bezza, for example, can start from RM80 per day.

Once a vehicle has been selected and booked, customers can collect the vehicle from the host at an agreed location, which is a more convenient option than traditional car rental services. Trevo customers can also opt for car delivery, for a small fee depending on the distance. “Normally, for traditional car rentals, you would have to fill out the form, book maybe a week or a few days earlier, and make various phone calls. But for Trevo, it’s all in the app, ”said Aaron Leong, operations manager at Trevo (Kota Kinabalu). For the best experience, customers can book 24 hours to 48 hours in advance. “This gives our guests time to properly prepare the car for the upcoming trip. “Customers could also get affordable deals on the app, as Trevo offers promo codes with discounts ranging from 20% to 30%, while new users can get up to 50% discount.” To register as a guest on the app, one must complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) process, provide their selfie with their MyKad details as well as a valid Malaysian Driver’s License (CDL). one can also choose to be a host and potentially earn additional income by renting their cars on the app. It also gives hosts the option to offset the cost of their monthly car payments. “For example, a Perodua Myvi is around RM 600 on a nine year loan. By sharing your car an average of seven days per month, you could cover your monthly payment costs. Hosts can also progress to becoming a “Superhost” which means that they always accept bookings and provide consistent quality service to customers, and in turn have priority for any guest bookings.

Aaron, who is a Superhost himself, says he managed to earn RM35,000 in net profit after a year of leasing his vehicles on the app. “In Kota Kinabalu we have a few Superhosts who have grown their portfolio up to five to 10 cars, so this can be a business opportunity, not just extra income,” he said. In addition to the peer-to-peer service, Trevo also collaborates with local players in the tourism industry by organizing attractive vacation packages for customers, through its “Trevo KK Experience” campaign, which is offered in gold and platinum. Until December 31, customers can claim a Free Vacation under the Platinum Package when they book on Trevo with a minimum spend of RM 599, using the code TRVEXPPLAT. Free vacations range from a two-day to one-night stay at Palace Hotel Kota Kinabalu or Dinawan Island, among others. As part of the Gold Package, customers can claim a free experience when they book on Trevo with a minimum spend of RM250 to RM598, using the code TRVEXPGOLD. Experiences range from stand up paddle boarding lessons and safari in Tanjung Aru to kayaking adventure from Tembara to Kg Serusup, Tuaran, among others. In addition, Trevo has a referral program where you can earn money as a guest or host.

“If you sponsor someone to book as a guest you can earn RM80, and if you sponsor someone to put their car up for sale and that car gets their first reservation within 30 days, you can earn RM100, ”Aaron explained. The Trevo app launched in Kota Kinabalu in August of last year, with around 700 cars listed on the market by different hosts. Those interested in using the Trevo app can use the Daily Express referral code “DAILYEXPRS” when booking a car. New users will receive a discount of up to 50% on their first reservation.
